On Saturday, United Metals, a division of The United Group focused on recycling, buying and selling metals, hosted a Metal for Meals: Scrap Metal Drive benefitting Sound Generations and their food programs for older Americans. Over 140 community members brought their scrap metals, appliances and literal kitchen sinks to our containers at the Shoreline/Lake Forest Park Senior Center. This helped to raise over $2,800 for Sound Generations’ meal programs including Meals on Wheels.

The United Group is committed to community and earth stewardship, taking in hundreds of thousands of tons of debris annually. We’re proud to partner with Sound Generations to provide meals for older Americans this summer, especially after seeing how Covid affected those who were homebound or food insecure. All the metals donated at the event will be recycled and repurposed for future use. We received over 23,000 pounds of scrap metal from the drive totaling up to over $2,800 in donations for Sound Generations. That’s roughly 280 meals for folks throughout King County.
